Safe Environment Program

Protecting the Children of Our Parish

Our Commitment

Saint Mary of Victories Catholic Church is fully committed to the safety and well-being of every child who participates in the life of our parish. We take our responsibility to create a safe environment for children seriously, and we adhere to all policies and programs mandated by the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

The Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program

The Archdiocese of Saint Louis maintains a comprehensive Safe Environment Program that includes background checks for all clergy, employees, and volunteers who work with minors; mandatory training in the recognition and prevention of child sexual abuse; and clear protocols for reporting any suspicion or allegation of abuse.

All volunteers and employees at Saint Mary of Victories who have contact with minors are required to complete the Archdiocesan Safe Environment training. This is a non-negotiable requirement for all who serve in our community.

VIRTUS Training

The Archdiocese uses the VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” program as its primary safe environment training resource. This program is widely recognized as one of the best in the country for educating adults who work with children about the warning signs of abuse and how to respond appropriately.
